Triathlon Season 2010

Few people will ever experience the greatest feeling in the world, the feeling in which you are thrilled to be who you are.

*Elation and thankfulness in being me

2010 was a great season, and I am psyched about my success and experiences! I was able to race in some great places, spend time with friends, win some great awards, and live the dream that is being a triathlete.  I had a lot to prove this year in moving up with the big boys in the next division, I did quite well for being the newest chump in the division of champs :)

The end of the season always brings the awkward transition of training swim, bike, run, to "what should I do now?"  Relaxing and resting my over-raced body is a key part.  Equally important is the part that comes a little later.  That part is the time when it is dark, cold, and lonely.  It is during this dark, cold, and lonely time that the races of the next year are won.

For me it is the time to do what other people don't want to do.  Winter training has always been about consistency, commitment, and the belief in what I am doing.  I do find some enjoyment in the switch to long easy miles, cross country skiing, and alternative exercise.  Every time I step to the start line in the spring feeling ready, every second of  winter training was worth it. It always is.

While I contemplate my off season training, enjoy the pictures of the season.

Friends, Family, and Fun!

* In 20 years when I am rusted, busted, jobless, and homeless, my nephew will be my roommate.  He already chats with hot babes via blackberry, we can go to college parties together.
